What is Arthrosamid®?
Arthrosamid® is a non‑biodegradable hydrogel injection that integrates within the knee joint’s synovial lining. It works by restoring elasticity within the joint and reducing inflammation, helping to relieve pain and improve mobility.
Many patients experience sustained symptom improvement after a single treatment.
Potential benefits include:
- Reduced knee pain
- Improved joint function and mobility
- Long‑lasting results
- Minimally invasive treatment
- No surgery required
Who is This Treatment For?
Arthrosamid® injections may be suitable for individuals who:
- Have knee pain due to osteoarthritis
- Experience stiffness or reduced mobility
- Have not achieved sufficient relief from physiotherapy or medication
- Wish to avoid knee replacement surgery
Suitability is confirmed during a detailed medical consultation.
Is there any research evidence ?
Bliddal H, Hartkopp A, Beier J, Conaghan PG, Henriksen M. A prospective, open-label, clinical investigation of a single intra-articular polyacrylamide hydrogel injection in participants with knee osteoarthritis: a 5-year extension study. J Orthop Surg Res. 2025 Dec 12;21(1):43. doi: 10.1186/s13018-025-06526-0. PMID: 41387884; PMCID: PMC12817702.

This study evaluated the long-term effectiveness and safety of a single intra-articular injection of 2.5% polyacrylamide hydrogel for treating moderate to severe knee osteoarthritis.
Forty-nine participants received the injection, and 27 completed a five-year follow-up assessing pain, stiffness, physical function, and overall patient assessment.
Results showed statistically significant and sustained improvements in all clinical outcomes over five years.
No serious adverse events were linked to the treatment, indicating a favourable long-term safety profile.
The findings suggest that polyacrylamide hydrogel may provide a durable, non-surgical treatment option for knee osteoarthritis, though larger controlled studies are needed.
